At TTA, we like to highlight our member companies.
This month we share the story of a member company addressing the information needs of their community and joining with local education and civic leaders to provide solutions for complex connectivity issues:
Etex Telephone Cooperative from Gilmer, Texas, led by TTA board member Charlie Cano
Etex was formed in 1952 to meet the communication needs of people living in rural northeast Texas. Growing from the original 743 members, who each paid a $10 membership fee and made an initial investment of $40 at the time of installation of service, Etex now serves over 12,600 members and customers. Etex Telephone Cooperative has a service territory of 710 square miles of rural East Texas. With a board made up of Co-op members and 110 employees, Etex is constantly looking for ways to help their customers and communities take advantage of competitively priced, state-of-the-art communication and information services that are available in urban areas.
